209. [Monthly Wrap-Up] Media Diary #10 - February 2025

I didn't do many new things with the blog. I just continued with my status updates. I guess the new thing that I tried is that I'm attempt to continue (with the best of my ability) with the monthly wrap-up long form blog posts :)

Away

Trips

I finished my road trip on 3 February. I rented a car in Sacramento and took a solo road trip down the state of California. I went to SLO, but stopped in Marin County, Hercules, Hayward/Union City, Salinas, then finally stopped in San Luis Obispo.

I arrived in Vancouver on 4 February. I stayed with my friend, who is from South Tyrol. I spent a very domestic week in Vancouver. It was the first time in a while that I saw snow fall.

I returned to KL during the second full week of February. I have been playing catch-up: a lot of friends and working things that needed to be taken care of!

Food

I love love love food. Here's what I ate:

Relationships

I stayed with my friend during my solo road trip and we had a really nice time hanging out at her apartment. She said she's having her restful year alone away from her family and rambunctious neighbors. She told me that she really didn't like hearing the racket late at night, and space is limited in her family home, so she decided to move out for the year and most likely come back. This friend got foot surgery and she's having her hermit era. I wanted to catch up with her and keep her company for day.

The next day, I went to my other friend, who lives in Union City. She and I went around the downtown area and stopped at the farmer's market while it was raining. We then had a lovely brunch at a Thai restaurant, before I continued on my journey.

I went down to Salinas, and then after a quick pit stop (doing activities like writing a postcard to friends like tiramisu), I drove to San Luis Obispo (SLO). In SLO, I stayed with my cousin at her university house with her 5 other roommates (California housing!). I went to a young people party with my cousin and her little friends. My cousin and her good friend, V, and I weren't as social as the other friends, T, M, and A, so the three of us sat in the corner and played a round of cards.

The next day, I spent time with my other cousins. It was a very friend and family filled weekend and a successful road trip. I'll have to toss this subject in the back burner and expand upon it when I find the time!

Immediately after doing my solo road trip in California, I had a flight to Vancouver. A lot of crazy things happened like me missing my train (I saw it go by), befriending my Uber driver, and then hanging out in a sensory room (it was really cool and pretty relaxing).

I landed in Canada and stayed with a friend for a week. It was a nice domestic time. In my second week of February, I got back to Malaysia. I made some more friends and met up with old friends.

I also went on plenty of dates lmao. I'll probably talk about them later. It's all up in the air- some good and some bad I guess!

Personal

New things I'm doing:

Going on more dates - both good and bad ones!
Being more open-minded in conversations
Meditating and having alone time to think and process
Hitting the gym in the morning (taking advantage of my jet lag and doing something active at 6AM)
Making new friends! Especially a lot of international ones!
Taking more chances and not feeling bad if the situation doesn't go my way
Keeping count of my blessings and holding onto good people
Taking more photos and editting them!
Eating well and not considering too much about calories
Living more in the present and making memories instead of constantly trying to preserve them
